We tried brussels sprouts that way recently -- no takers. But I'm realizing my boys are texture people (this is probably familiar to you, Dena) -- it can't be too mushy or rough. Except for salad greens, which Ben adores. The only vegetables they consistently agree on are carrots, raw, in sticks, and green beans just barely steamed.

That's funny, I loved that piece by Catherine Newman, and I have the same strategy as you -- just keep puttin' it down, and sooner or later they do seem to try the stuff. And later still, they mysteriously decide to like it. The other night I served them brussels sprouts, cut in half and fried (lightly) in olive oil and sprinkled with salt. They gobbled them down like pez candy and were fighting over the last one, then begging me to buy more "yummy brussel spouts"! I felt like the Best. Mom. Ever. Until, of course, we got to bath time (where they splashed water all over the floor, despite me screeching continuously, "Don't splash water all over the floor!") and bedtime (when one of them slugged the other, and....

But I think you need more than carrots to fight off scurvy :-)

I also always put down those carrot sticks. But I also have great luck with anything that can be dipped in a vat of balsamic vinegar. She will eat *nearly* any green vegetable provided it is relatively smooth and dippable (green beans, broccoli stalks, asparagus without the top part of the spear, etc.)
