Oh I know what you mean about the beeping! I even called the manufacturer of my dryer once to find out how to disable the stupid beeping. The dryer was in the basement right under my bedroom, so I couldn't throw a load of clothes in to dry before I went to bed because the darn beeping would wake me up! There was no way to disable it, though. Why do they think we want all that noise?

Actually, I didn’t buy it, but it was given to me by someone who was re-locating to the US, having had it in Japan for a number of years… 5 or more, at least. So figure it’s about 7 years older than you are! And a) I never could read the directions: they were all in Japanese characters, and b) the directions didn’t make it into the packing crates that brought our belongings back to the us a couple of years after I acquired the rice cooker!
