Only in NJ because we literally can’t buy Yoo-Hoo where we live, but also because, well, it’s so full of crap and so unhealthy and downright gross that I would never buy it if we weren’t on vacation. But buy it I did, and a six pack at that, for my son, and his sister and their 2 cousins, partly because I remembered it as a rare treat from my NJ childhood and because the packaging is still so iconic, and it’s sort of good and sweet and cold.

Suffice to say Finn had a quintessential NJ food moment, sitting in one of the country premiere delicatessens, eating a bagel that had literally come straight out of the oven, and sucking down a Yoo-Hoo in maybe 60 seconds flat.

But he can also do a mean dance to Rosalita. Both feats prove he’s my son.

    Interesting comment about Yoo-hoo.

    I too have great memories of it as a kid, but the Yoo-hoo today is nowhere as good as it was back then. My olfactory can surely recall the great taste of yesteryear’s version of Yoo-hoo.

    This modern day stuff is not even close. It’s very disappointing – to say the least.

    Surely, they changed the formula and added a lot of “crap” in it – as you say.

    Sadly, so many companies inadvertently distance and/or alienate their older fans by cheapening their products and adding new and/or lesser quality ingredients.

    The nostalgic look, feel, and sensibility of the bottle and its iconic logo may serve well to reinvite us to try Yoo-hoo again. Though, I highly doubt that what’s inside will keep us oldtimers coming back.

    Sure wish they would improve Yoo-hoo with a better choice of ingredients…

    Oh, Yoo-hoo, my childhood friend… I wonder if it’s made with high fructose corn syrup now instead of cane sugar? That makes a real difference in flavor (the kind that has my husband seeking out Mexican-made Coke in a bottle — happily not too hard in SF– which still uses sugar rather than hfcs).

    It now has high fructose corn syrup and partially hydrogenated something or other oil. Other unutterable things, too. I didn’t like it so much, much as I wanted to, but the kids all loved it. Mind you, these 4 kids also don’t drink much soda except on rare/special occasions, so anything sweet is sort of special and appealing.
